▓▒░ 展覽簡介 Exhibition ░▒▓

斌華是我的大學學長，我們口語訓練課同班。印象中那是一個隔週上課，每次三小時，集結所有轉系、輔系、雙修外文系的八人小班，文藝電影譬如時時刻刻、愛在黎明破曉時、愛在日落巴黎時之類是我們的課堂教材。依稀記得某次報告 Henri（是的法文發音）（是的是斌華）閉上眼睛誦讀某首英文詩的神態。

若干年後，Henri 成爲看守所藝術空間的主理人，邀請我辦展。

有感於看守所很特殊的展場條件，我以現地製作回應，做一檔關於思考這個空間和場域本身的展覽。想著該怎麼料理那三面黑色鋼板？怎樣的創作可以進入藝術範疇，以藝術作品的姿態被理解？怎樣的創作者是藝術家？怎麼持續創作？藝術空間怎麼生存？怎麼跟社會對話？諸如此類。

想想那答案只能是愛。

我想我知道空間為什麼取名叫看守所。

就讀外文系時也修了一年（大概）的歌劇史，大部分忘了，但我還記得托斯卡第二幕的詠嘆調，為了藝術為了愛 Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore。展覽期間斌華和我（應該）都在，這是一個愛的行為，請來看守我們。

“Beholding Cell” is an exhibition that shares the same name with the space where it takes place. Through showing a model of the space at its actual, physical space, this exhibition looks into the conditions of making and of being art.

王雅慕

創作者。作品多從語言出發，喜歡將既有文化產物當素材，透過重新編輯、改寫、轉譯，轉換給定視角也開啟新的社會關係。蘇黎世藝術大學製造，貝魯特重新組裝，現居台北。

Yamu Wang is an art practitioner made in Zurich University of the Arts, reconfigured in Beirut, based in Taipei. Much of her projects are prompted by existing cultural materials, with the given narratives edited, rewritten, overwritten.
