The Flowering Tree: Chiu Ching Ting Photography Exhibition

因為一部電影的拍攝，啟程至山口洋，同時也是朋友的家鄉，在此之前，多是在他及媽媽阿秋的故事裡知道這個地方。不過抵達以前，關於這座城市的圖像是稀少的。

過年前待在山口洋，往村莊前有一棵大樹，有鮮豔的花，靠近卻發現那是塑膠和紙片製作的花。過幾天在市場看到很多小樹，等待裝飾或者已被裝飾。電影在朋友那裡完成，帶著一個老相機的我，回來以後多數想的是關於那段日子的枝微。

偶爾手機提示，有人看了雲端地圖上相片的訊息，我就回到當時最重要的地點。

Because of a film production, I set out for Singkawang—a place that is also my friend’s hometown.

Before this journey, I had mostly known it through stories told by her and her mother, A-Chiu.

Yet before arriving, images of the city were scarce.

I stayed in Singkawang in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year.

On the way to the village stood a large tree, adorned with vivid blossoms—only upon closer look did I realize they were flowers made of plastic and paper.

A few days later, I saw many small trees in the market,

waiting to be decorated, or already dressed in color.

As our director friend continued shaping the film across various locations—from my friend’s home to Taiwan—I wandered with an old camera, drawn to the smaller details of those days.

After returning, what lingers most are fragments of that time.

Occasionally, my phone notifies me that someone has viewed the photos on a cloud map—and in those moments, I return to the places that once felt most essential.

Pohon yang Berbunga : Pameran Fotografi Chiu Ching-ting

Karena syuting sebuah film, saya pergi ke kota Singkawang. Kota itu adalah kampung halaman dari teman saya. Sebelumnya, saya hanya mengenal tempat ini melalui cerita-cerita darinya dan ibunya, A-Chiu. Namun, sebelum tiba di sana, gambaran visual saya tentang kota ini sangatlah terbatas.

Saya berada di Singkawang menjelang Tahun Baru Imlek. Di jalan menuju desa, ada sebuah pohon besar dengan bunga-bunga yang amat cerah. Namun saat mendekat, saya menyadari bahwa bunga-bunga itu terbuat dari plastik dan kertas. Beberapa hari kemudian di pasar, saya melihat banyak pohon kecil yang akan dihias atau sudah penuh dengan hiasan. Film tersebut selesai dikerjakan di tempat temanku, dengan kamera tua yang saya bawa, Setelah kembali, saya lebih banyak memikirkan detail-detail pada hari-hari tersebut.

Terkadang ada notifikasi dari ponsel, kalau ada orang yang melihat foto-foto di Cloud Maps, dan di saat itulah saya langsung kembali ke lokasi terpenting pada saat itu.

As I seek the tension between what is known and what remains uncertain.

Apa yang bermula sebagai ketertarikan sunyi terhadap seni perlahan tumbuh,

Hingga rasa itu menguasai, dan penciptaan pun mengikuti.

Melalui kata-kata, gambar, dan tekstil—

Fragmen-fragmen narasi terungkap,

Saat aku mencari ketegangan antara yang diketahui dan yang masih belum pasti.
