當我們都被安放的那天 - 蘇長慶個展
當我漫步在芝加哥興氏小學的走廊時，一幅鮮明的對比在我眼前展開。教室裡的孩子們專注於學習，而我卻被這條排列著置物櫃的走廊深深吸引。置物櫃之間的背包背帶抓住了我的目光，每一條都呈現出獨特的顏色與長度，有的筆直挺立，有的則如藤蔓般垂落。
在兩年間，我在這所雙語小學裡陪伴了這群一年級學生，見證他們在語言與身份之間穿梭的日常。置物櫃是公共空間裡的私人空間，那些從中長出的背帶，是初來世界者留下的每日印記。高飽和的基本顏色在深灰色鐵櫃的襯托下，呈現出個人經驗在公共經驗裡不可化約的特殊性。透過「包中包」的概念，我將這場走廊的暫時風景轉化為可攜帶的物件，讓縫隙中萌發的強韌生命力陪伴著所有者，前往下一個新地方。

As I roamed the corridors of Haines Elementary School in Chicago, a striking contrast unfolded before me. While students were engrossed in their classrooms, I found myself captivated by the locker-lined hallway. The backpack straps suspended between the lockers seized my attention. Each distinct in color and length, some standing tall and unwavering, while others cascaded like vines gracefully draping from their resting places.
Over two years, I accompanied a group of first graders at this bilingual school, witnessing their daily navigation between languages and identities. The locker is a private space within a public space. The straps growing out from within are daily marks left by those newly arrived in the world. Their saturated primary colors set against the deep gray of the metal lockers, embody the irreducible particularity of personal experience within shared experience. Through the concept of "bag within a bag," I transformed these temporary hallway scenes into portable objects, so that the resilient vitality emerging from the gaps will accompany its owner wherever they go next.

作為跨域藝術家與研究者，蘇長慶探尋個體在政治與社會的界面上，與權力與權威互動所形成的動態辯證。其作品曾於 EXPO Chicago 國際藝術博覽會、瑞典斯科夫德美術館、米蘭MIA Photo Fair 影像藝術博覽會與台灣國際攝影節展出。目前就讀於美國威斯康辛大學麥迪遜分校傳播藝術系博士班，並持續思考當代藝術有沒有可能僅是一種修辭。
Chang-Ching “Casper” Su is a research-based artist focused on conveying freedom through photography and writing. His work explores the dynamic dialectics formed through the interaction of individuals with power and authority at the socio-political interface. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he continues to question whether Contemporary Art can ever be more than a form of rhetoric.
