度口計畫-第二站〔看守所〕

如果說，2025 年初的個展《去花蓮 找 莊德樹》，是莊約翰與已故父親之間一場延遲多年的對話，那麼，三個月後的攝影書《#回滿洲》，則是約翰在岳父喪禮中的親身參與和理性告別。

接續的兩次創作，構成了一條內在的延續：從缺席到在場，從對私人記憶的追索，到對生命終點的凝視。前者處理了情感的缺席與父子關係的失語，後者則在喪禮儀式中，直面與凝視了死亡的在場。這樣的轉變，使約翰的創作視線逐漸靠近生與死之間的「度口」，那是每個人終將要經過、卻無法停留的人世邊界。文 / 傅爾得

The  psychopomp plan – Stop 2: [Beholding Cell Art Space]

If the early 2025 solo exhibition, Go to Hualien, Find Chuang Te-Tree, was a long-delayed dialogue between John Chuang and his late father, then the photobook Go back  to Manchu, released three months later, represents John’s personal immersion and rational farewell during his father-in-law’s funeral.

These two consecutive creative acts form an internal continuity: moving from absence to presence, and from the pursuit of private memories to a steady gaze at the end of life. The former addresses emotional absence and the silence between father and son, while the latter confronts the physical presence of death through funeral rituals. This shift brings John’s creative vision closer to the “Crossing” (度口) between life and death—that worldly boundary everyone must pass through, yet where no one can stay.
