▓▒░ 展覽簡介 Exhibition ░▒▓

This work centers on the surveillance peepholes of the 60 detention cells in the Ren’ai Building at Jingmei White Terror Memorial Park (formerly the Jingmei Military Detention Center). For the political prisoners and detainees held within, these peepholes were narrow apertures for glimpsing freedom, yet they also served as windows for constant surveillance.

The rigid, square framing of the images, contrasted with the minute and blurred peepholes, signifies an uncertain and unreachable liberty under the framework of the regime. This is a reflection on the act of looking from the inside out. By juxtaposing these photo-like compositions with references to disciplinary objects, the work creates a palpable tension of compression between the interior and the exterior world.

Originally from Kaohsiung and currently based in the Taipei area, I have dedicated my life to the art and essence of photography.

In 2024 and 2025, in collaboration with Numbers, I was awarded the Google News Digital Innovation (nDX) Impact Grant. With over 20 years of experience as a photojournalist, I have served at prominent news outlets including Taiwan Daily, Apple Daily, Storm Media, and The Reporter. During my tenure at The Reporter, I spearheaded the ”Local Visual Roots Project“ workshops for seven years and led the ”Campus Visual Residency“ program for The Reporter for Kids for two years. In 2023, I established Philosophy Photography, a brand committed to the co-creation and independent publishing of Taiwanese photobooks. The initiative promotes the exchange of photographic literature, organizes visual education curricula, and provides professional image consulting and execution.
